ENABLE Glasgow is a community based charity working with adults with learning disabilities and their carers and families in Glasgow. We are currently recruiting for a handy person to join our skilled staff team at our Esmond Street Advanced Support Service in the Yorkhill area of the city. Esmond Street is currently the only service of its kind in the city, providing a high quality 24/7 supported living service to 22 adults with learning disabilities who are older and/or have advanced needs.


We are looking for staff members who share ENABLE Glasgow’s values in promoting the rights of individuals with learning disabilities to live fulfilling and meaningful lives. Our workers are incredible, caring and talented individuals whose skills are invaluable to supporting the well-being of some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

Your role will be:

·     To have a positive attitude towards service users’ personal development and role in their community.

·     To regularly perform maintenance jobs and light repairs

·     To regularly perform various landscaping tasks

To undertake various painting and decorating tasks

·     To fill gaps and provide painting services

·     To perform lighting installation and carpeting 

·     To repair equipment and various machines and appliances

·     To identify, document and report maintenance and repair work 

·     To suggest additional repairs when identified and needed

·     To undertake shift work and work during unsocial hours as required.

·     To be responsible to the service Manager, on a day-to-day basis, and through the line management structure

of ENABLE Glasgow.

·     To undertake training identified as relevant to the post.

·     To adhere to the policies, working practices, and operational guidelines of ENABLE Glasgow.

·     To undertake any other duties relevant to the post, as identified by the Manager.
