Full Job Description

The Protection Platform at Lloyds Banking Group provides Life and Critical Illness insurance to protect our customers from the unexpected events in life. In a complex but rewarding domain, we seek to combine an intense customer focus with excellent engineering.

The Head of Engineering (Protection Platform) will work collaboratively with other Lab roles to create empowered Teams who are motivated to take on business problems and realise value to customers through excellence in execution.

You will be pivotal in shaping the vision for the Lab, and as a result centre on setting the strategic direction for the engineering teams to demonstrate thought leadership in contemporary technical delivery, across the entire lifecycle, from idea to realisation of value.

  • Extensive experience and technical engineering knowledge and implementation of a broad range of platforms, including cloud.


  • Are technology agnostic and willing to adapt your approach in pursuit of the best solution; enables via an excellent knowledge and understanding of multiple engineering & software design solutions.


  • Experienced in providing Software Engineering oversight, technical and people leadership across multiple teams


  • Successful in building high performing mission driven cultures


  • You will inspire delivery whilst encouraging simplicity and developing confidence & trust
