Full Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a new Head of Finance Management Accounts who will be responsible for the strategic and operational accountability for the following key role:

The Head of Finance (HOF) will provide leadership around ensuring the provision of decisive and essential financial management on all strategic and operational financial and governance matters to the Director of Finance, Assistant Director of Finance Acute & Access, Assistant Director of Finance - Financial Planning & Performance (Senior Finance Management Team) and senior Board management in a tight and complex financial environment in a time critical manner. This requires the initiation and development of cost improvement programmes and short and long term financial recovery plans to achieve financial targets/balance

You will lead the design, implementation, maintenance and ongoing development of the strategic and operational financial management arrangements for a pan Glasgow operating division to support NHSGGCs agreed single system working arrangements. This will involve ensuring efficient, effective and consistent working practices across the function, underpinned with the correct staffing structure and reporting lines.

You will be responsible for full line management of a department of circa 65wte management accounting staff across Greater Glasgow and Clyde along with dotted line responsibility for circa 15 WTE management accountants based out in the HSCPs and full functional responsibility of several teams.

We are looking for a candidate who will bring experience of developing and implementing financial strategy, leading transformation and change, excellent people management skills and the ability to work in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.

You will be a qualified accountant with a recognised Consultative Committee of Accounting Bodies (CCAB), with demonstrable experience in a Senior Finance Manager role including significant budgetary responsibility and expert in the delivery of a quality finance service with a broad range of practical experience in the provision of a modern financial management service, including performance management, project management and strategic financial planning and staff management

The role is based at our office in Dykebar Hospital, Paisley with free parking and easy access to the motorway network youll be part of an inclusive and innovative finance team. In addition, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde supports hybrid working.
