Position

An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Information Governance and Data Protection Officer at University Hospital Crosshouse.

What you will do:

You will provide strategic leadership for Information Governance across NHS Ayrshire & Arran (A&A). You will be the organisations accountable Data Protection Officer (DPO), in line with Article 39 of the General Data Protection Legislation. You will be responsible for leading on the development and implementation of the Records Management Plan for NHS A&A, as specified by the Public Records (Scotland) Act 2011, and for leading and directing the freedom of information function within NHS A&A.

You will act as an expert specialist adviser to all service or functional areas within, and connected to, NHS A&A, on all matters relating to information governance, assurance, privacy, confidentiality, freedom of information and corporate records management.

The Head of Information Governance & Data Protection Officer leads a team of specialist staff who develop, monitor and oversee the implementation of NHS Ayrshire & Arrans Information Governance and Assurance agenda. This includes; data protection, information security, freedom of information, confidentiality, Caldicott and corporate records management.

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

Educated to Masters degree level, with experience of working within an information governance or data protection role, the post holder will be able to interpret Data Protection Legislation, in particular the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018. Experience of leading a team and managing programmes of work is essential, along with a high level of knowledge in the use of the Microsoft office suite, advanced computer skills and proficiency in the use of electronic information systems. You will be highly motivated and be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and experience of leadership.

37 per week (Job Share considered)

Please note this job is a fixed term/secondment for 6 months.
