Glasgow will host the 23rd edition of Commonwealth Games between 23 July and 2 August 2026. Approximately 3,000 athletes and team officials from up to 74 nations and territories across the Commonwealth will come together in a 10-day celebration of sport and culture. Events will take place across Glasgow, entertaining around 500,000 ticketed spectators and reaching a global broadcast audience of more than one billion.

 

Glasgow 2026 Limited, the Organising Company (the OC), is organising the Games along with the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) and Commonwealth Games Scotland (CGS). Each has key parts to play in the planning and delivery of the Commonwealth Games - individually and collectively - to ensure that Glasgow 2026 is a huge success.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head of Procurement to manage a small but busy Procurement team. The Head of Procurement is a key leadership role within the Commonwealth Games Organising Company, responsible for managing the strategic development and coordination of procurement to ensure delivery in a timely fashion to meet the Games timelines across the Organising Committee.


The Head of Procurement is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and oversight of all procurement and contracting activities. This role ensures that all goods, services, and works required for the successful delivery of the Games are sourced efficiently, ethically, and in compliance with legal and organisational standards.  


This role requires a dynamic and experienced leader to work collaboratively with internal departments, external stakeholders, and event delivery partners. The Head of Procurement  will play a pivotal role in delivering a financially successful Games, adhering to governance standards and leaving a positive legacy for the Commonwealth Games Federation, host city and stakeholders.


Job Summary:

The Head of Procurement will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing the overall procurement and contract management strategy, aligning with the Games’ operational objectives and timeline. 
  • Leading the end-to-end procurement process, including market engagement, tendering, bid evaluation, and supplier selection.  
  • Coordinating and participating in the effective negotiation of high profile and complex deals for the procurement of goods and services across Glasgow 2026. 
  • Monitoring the procurement pipeline to ensure alignment with the Games delivery schedule and mitigate delays. 
  • Establishing and maintaining strategies and policies to allow Procurement to work with functional areas to enable them to manage the relationships and contracts with suppliers to ensure reliability, quality, best value and operational outcomes for the Organising Company. 
  • Monitoring the procurement pipeline to ensure alignment with the Games delivery schedule and mitigate delays. 
  • Championing sustainable procurement practices that align with the Games’ legacy goals. 
  • Collaborating with internal functional areas to understand procurement needs and provide strategic guidance on supplier options. 

Education:

The Head of Procurement should have 7 plus years’ experience, in this area at a senior level or hold a tertiary qualification in procurement or a related discipline.


Key Skills and Experience:

We are looking for a Head of Procurement who can is an excellent communicator, thrives working in a fast-paced environment and is a strong team player. In addition, the successful candidate should also display strong leadership credentials and have previous experience of leading a team. Relationship building is key for this role and experience of influencing senior internal and external stakeholders essential.
