Full Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity in a newly created role. We are looking for a Head of Research Finance to take on leadership of the Research Finance Function which is responsible for the oversight of a portfolio of complex research projects worth £185m per annum.
You will be responsible for:
o Providing specialist expertise and knowledge to PIs and senior leadership, and collaborating partners,
o Resolving complex queries/decisions as the senior escalation point,
o Oversee and set the direction for policies and developing/improving processes,
o Providing management information to support school reporting and decision-making e.g. award statistics for annual report,
o Setting and improving service standards for the Faculty-facing Research Finance teams and being accountable for ensuring delivery on these,
This will be a challenging but highly rewarding opportunity. You will be responsible for ensuring a high quality business partnering service is provided on all post-award, working closely with senior faculty leadership. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of an efficient, customer-focused service to the faculties, identifying and resolving issues, and driving long term improvements collaboratively including through process and system development working closely with the two Research Finance Managers.
You should be educated to higher education to degree level (equivalent), or equivalent relevant experience. You must have substantial experience of financial management of research projects in a higher education research environment along with excellent oral and written communication skills. The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1 FTE and permanent.
LSHTM operates a hybrid working model allowing a mix of on-site and at home working for this role.
The salary will be on the Professional Services salary scale, Grade 8 in the range £62,928- £72,092 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary "Wellbeing Days". Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
