Glasgow City Council is recruiting for a new Head of Roads Asset Management, part of the Council’s Neighbourhood & Regeneration Services. We’re looking for an experienced leader, with an ambition to deliver the Council’s statutory duties as a roads authority and ready to take responsibility for ensuring we can deliver our strategic and local commitments.

The successful candidate will be able to form meaningful, constructive relationships across the city, whilst providing service direction and leadership to the Group Managers of our frontline workforces operating and maintaining the Council’s road and structural assets including, roads and drainage, street & amenity lighting, bridges and structures, including the Clyde Tunnel and Tidal Weir.

The Head of Roads Asset Management’s primary responsibility is to ensure the delivery of consistent, high quality customer facing services and an efficient customer journey across all service areas, including delivery of the Council’s Capital and Revenue investment projects, with in excess of circa £30m annually to support infrastructure maintenance and improvements, enhance the roads environment and pursue sustainability of the City's transport networks.

An important element of the role is to form meaningful constructive relationships with various internal/external stakeholders, and it is therefore essential you have excellent communication / influencing skills and the ability to manage professional relationships. A current driving licence is essential, and it is desirable for you to have membership of a relevant professional body and either hold or be working towards Chartered Engineer Status.
