Full Job Description

There is an exciting opportunity to join us in the Insurance, Pensions and Investments (IP&I) division of Lloyds Banking Group as the Head of Shareholder Assets. Reporting directly to the Chief Investment Officer, you'll be responsible for setting and continuously improving the overall Investment strategy for our £15bn Shareholder Assets portfolio and delivering that strategy in relation to the traded assets portfolio.

Leading a team of 30 colleagues, you'll be responsible for our third-party asset managers, the internal implementation processes for new types of traded investments and the ongoing management of the existing traded asset portfolio. Key to this role is the responsibility for ensuring internal and external partners are on board with the required deliverables and timescales to support the planned investments. The role will also include oversight of the teams sourcing new private debt assets and managing our existing c£7bn portfolio of private credit assets

What you'll be doing:

  • Defining the Shareholder Investment strategy across liquid and illiquid assets, including asset classes and mix of assets, and how they're accessed, to ensure the maximisation of shareholder value.

  • Leading a team, ensuring we have the right people with the right skills to deliver the strategy.

  • Engaging with the broader IP&I business and broader functions (Annuity Pricing, Risk and Finance) to ensure delivery of investment strategy and annuity strategy, so that the returns expected in annuity pricing are realised.

  • Engaging other Business Divisions across LBG such as Commercial Banking and Capital Markets to ensure we improve LBG shareholder value.

  • Building trust and engagement with internal and external business partners to facilitate transactions and improve our processes and capabilities.

  • Ensure adherence to LBG's stated ESG policies and integrate these into investment decision making.

  • Building the market profile of Scottish Widows with internal and external partners, advisors and potential clients.

Confirmed experience of leading teams in an Investment, Actuarial or Finance area is a must for this role. Ideally with annuity investment experience.

  • Understanding of Insurance capital and other regulatory requirements and how these impact investment strategy for Insurers and competitiveness for bulk annuities

  • Experience of leading outsourced investment arrangements

  • Ability to optimally communicate both verbally and in writing to engage a variety of partners both internally and externally, up to board level.

  • Effective collaboration with internal and external partners to drive projects forward, deliver commercial outcomes and mitigate conflicting priorities.

At Lloyds Banking Group, we're driven by a clear purpose; to help Britain prosper. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses and communities. With us you'll have a key role to play in shaping the financial services of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll have many opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

  • We keep your data safe. So, we'll only ever ask you to provide confidential or sensitive information once you have formally been invited along to an interview or accepted a verbal offer to join us which is when we run our background checks. We'll always explain what we need and why, with any request coming from a trusted Lloyds Banking Group person.

We're focused on creating a values-led culture and are committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve. Together we're building a truly inclusive workplace where all of our colleagues have the opportunity to make a real difference.

Our focus is to ensure we're inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms. We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture.

We were one of the first major organisations to set goals on diversity in senior roles, create a menopause health package, and a dedicated Working with Cancer initiative.

And it's why we especially welcome applications from under-represented groups. We're disability confident.

So, if you'd like reasonable adjustments to be made to our recruitment processes, just let us know.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:
  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%

  • An annual performance-related bonus

  • Share schemes including free shares!

  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping.

  • 30 days' holiday, with bank holidays on top

  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies
