We are seeking to appoint a dynamic leader with vision and a passion for learning who will, along with a generous management team, lead learning at Georgetown Primary School including Nursery and Learning Centre.  The position offers an exciting opportunity to shape educational provision and is supported by a 2 Depute Headteachers, Nursery Manager and Principal Teacher.

Georgetown Primary School is situated in Dumfries Burgh and has a current mainstream school roll of over 324 pupils with a 40/40 place Nursery and a Learning Centre.  Dumfries is the largest town in Dumfries and Galloway with all major services and amenities available.  The wider area boasts many local industries including agriculture, forestry, sea related industries and tourism.  Good housing is very affordable, and the area is easy to reach by car and public transport.

Applicants will have proven leadership qualities and experience in primary education and be committed to very high standards of achievement.

Applicants are required to be fully registered in primary education with the General Teaching Council of Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT and be able to demonstrate that they have, through both experience and professional development, met the criteria in the Standard for Headship.
 
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
