Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

This is a part-time post of 30 hours per week, with a shift pattern of 0800-1800, Mon Sat Flexible working.

(Please note the salary is Pro Rata) for part time hours.

We are currently seeking to recruit a Health Care Support Worker to join our Outpatient Service. Outpatients is a dynamic, diverse environment and plays an important role in the delivery of patient care across the NHS Board area.

Requirements:

  • You must demonstrate a commitment to supporting the ongoing development of the service.
  • You will have experience working within a health caring environment/role and the ability to work under pressure to deliver safe and effective care.
  • Candidates must be able to contribute to the effective management of resources including supplies & equipment.
  • Share responsibility for key aspects of housekeeping, stock control & participate in Health & safety audits within the department.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to work with people and as part of a multidisciplinary team are essential.
  • Ability to undertake, record and report patient physical observations and have the ability to observe changes in patients physical/psychological health.
  • Ability to perform a range of tests eg urinalysis, blood pressure, Pregnancy testing, Bladder scanning, blood glucose monitoring and wound observation.
  • An SVQ 2 in Healthcare or working towards and IT skills are essential as responsibility to input patient information into electronic records is required.

There may be a requirement to work flexibly to support the service and, if necessary, you will be expected to engage in multi-site working within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in order to ensure the provision of the service.
