Full Job Description
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. The shift pattern for this position is Mon-Fri, 0900-1700hrs.
Working with a Greater Glasgow and Clyde remit you will be a highly motivated individual who will project manage the development of a programme of work to deliver prevention and early intervention actions within Long Term Condition programmes and clinical pathways. The post will lead and co-ordinate on the delivery of the Scottish Government Diabetes Prevention Framework and Diabetes Improvement Plan and ensure alignment of the health improvement approach with other LTCs and secondary prevention frameworks.
Based within the Public Health Directorate, the post will work closely with the Primary Care Support Directorate, MCN Clinical leads, Health & Social Care Partnership Adult Service Teams and a wide range of stakeholders to design, co-ordinate and ensure the delivery of a menu of interventions aimed at prevention, early identification and intervention and improved self-management to reduce health inequalities for patients across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.
The post will take a lead for developing partnerships with primary care, acute care, HSCPs, maternity services and other partners both internal and external, to support a life course approach to the management of long term conditions with a particular remit for early intervention and prevention of type 2 diabetes.
You will be ideally educated to post graduate level or with evidence of relevant public health /Health Improvement experience and ongoing CPD. You will have proven experience of operating at a senior level within an NHS environment; working across organisational and/or professional boundaries and ability to develop multiple programmes of work to achieve agreed outcomes within tight deadlines.
Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and negotiate across a wide range of staff are essential. Experience of project and resource management across a range of settings would be an advantage.
