Requirements

You will have an NEBOSH Certificate or SVQ/NVQ Level 4 or equivalent in Health and Safety or relevant subject area.

Responsibilities

You will work within a small team to provide a comprehensive range of health and safety services to Children and Families (Schools) to support and work with services to achieve the objectives of the Council’s Health and Safety Policy and Plan. To take an active role to ensure that risk assessments and risk controls and safe working practices are being effectively implemented by services. To actively participate in service and corporate working groups, to promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the Council and in partnership working to minimise the potential for occupational incidents and ill health.

The Individual

You will have experience of working within a health and safety environment, excellent report writing skills, experience of using your own judgement to make decisions and making collaborative decisions to influence and improve health and safety. You will have knowledge of general health and safety legislation and guidance, carrying out and appraising risk assessments and experience of solving problems and providing a range of potential solutions. You will have the ability to identify potential risks and implement appropriate controls, incident investigation skills, risk assessment skills, planning, organisational and prioritisation of work. You will have well developed written, oral and presentation skills along with influencing and negotiating skills. You will have also have working knowledge Microsoft packages, including Word, Excel and Office 365. You will have a current driving licence.
