About the role: Balfour Beatty is seeking two Health and Safety Advisors to join our Power Transmission and Distribution team in Aberdeenshire. In this role, you will be instrumental in supporting some of Scotland's largest power projects, ensuring the safety of our teams working on substations, cabling, and overhead lines. We are seeking a candidate who is proficient in producing Health and Safety documentation and can collaborate effectively with operational colleagues. Your role will involve providing crucial support during the pre-construction phase, ensuring a seamless transition to the construction phase. The successful candidate should be comfortable with both office-based tasks and on-site responsibilities. We are looking for candidates who are comfortable with travel between project sites, with occasional overnight stays as required. A company car will be provided, and expenses for overnight stays will be covered. What you'll be doing: - Guidance and support - Provide
guidance, support, and advice on Health and Safety (H&S) to ensure compliance with Balfour Beatty's HSES Integrated Business Management System (BMS), relevant legislation, BSI requirements, and client standards. - Compliance monitoring- Monitor and ensure adherence to H&S protocols and regulations. - On-Site Engagement - When on site, engage with the team to provide coaching and support on health and safety practices. - Promoting safe behaviours- Actively promote and encourage safe behaviours among all team members on site. - As a health and safety advisor you will have the following accountabilities: - Providing support to the operational team during the pre-construction phase, developing H&S documentation and assisting the project team when required. - Contribute to the implementation of the Zero Harm & Sustainability Action Plan - Undertake planned & unplanned inspections, audits, joint tours and reviews of projects - Produce formal reports on findings and communicate these
to the project. - Be involved at the planning stage to support design teams to identify and control risk. - Engage with site teams to identify safer ways of working using the hierarchy of control - Deliver on-going approved H&S Awareness Training to meet project and business needs

Membership of a relevant professional body (IOSH/IEMA) or working towards - Educated to NEBOSH National Level Certificate or equivalent - Comfortable in an office environment producing H&S documentation. - Full driving licence and willingness to travel - Good communicator with influencing and persuasion skills - Approachable - Good interpersonal skills and team player - Displaying and demonstrating the Balfour Beatty behaviours at all times - Incident/Accident investigator/fact finder - Accurate record keeping
