Full Job Description

Gregory Group are pleased to advertise the position of a Regional Health & Safety Advisor, to be based in Dyce, Aberdeen. This position will involve occasional travel to other sites as and when required. The position of Regional Health & Safety Advisor involves:

  • To promote the Gregory Way by supporting the Gregory Group Objectives and the businesses primary Purpose (5P's), through leading and supporting the Group's Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality strategies.
  • Monitor and support sites Health & Safety and Quality performance.
  • Champion ways to improve the Group's Health & Safety and Quality standards and awareness.
  • Champion Intelex, the Group H&S Reporting Management System.
  • Advise sites on of all relevant regulations, best practice, trends, and legal compliance.
  • Assist in the deployment of the Company's Health & Safety Management System to maintain ISO 45001 and ISO9001 and BRC accreditations.
  • Support the HSEQ audit programmes and support the closure of any corrective actions.
  • Support new operational start-ups.
  • Foster strong relationships with and influence operational business areas.
  • Working with Site and department Managers and the HSEQ Central team to proactively deliver continuous improvements in all HSEQ management processes and metrics to improve overall site and business performance.
  • Ensure the adoption of best practice HSEQ management processes including, potential hazards and hazard reporting, safety conversations, accident reporting, accident investigations, root cause understanding, trend analysis, risk assessments, safe systems of work, employee engagement, monitoring, and training.
  • Assist in the implementation of initiatives to embed a strong HSEQ awareness culture.
  • Assist in the deployment of the Company's HSEQ Management System to improve standards.
  • Support the HSEQ audit programmes and support the closure of any corrective actions.
  • Support the integrity of HSEQ performance metrics.
  • Assist in the development, education, and training of the Health & Safety Ambassador community.
  • Ensure contractors are approved and provide RAMS and any other required documentation.
  • Support the writing of Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Support the communication of HSEQ material to employees by all required means (e.g. involvement in toolbox talks, notice board communications, staff briefs, emails, etc).
  • Champion the Group's internal 'Safety First' branding.
  • Ensure BCP (Business Continuity Planning) is considered and documented.
  • The role reports into the Head of Compliance, HSEQ, Internal Audit & Facilities.

    Proven, demonstrable experience in a similar role, ideally gained in a related industry such as distribution and warehousing.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience within an HSE or similar role.
  • An industry recognised qualification such as the NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent).
  • A strong track record of delivering safety performance improvement through behavioural and cultural change.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft packages, such as, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels and be comfortable at presenting to senior managers.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of hours as the business requires.
  • Strong analytical capability and the ability to analyse data and find timely solutions to problems.
  • Hard working and conscientious.
  • Ability to proactively manage changing priorities and deadlines at short notice.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail skills.
  • Desirable skills for the Regional Health & Safety Advisor:
  • H&S management in a distribution and warehousing environment.
  • Working towards the NEBOSH National Diploma.
  • ISO H&S systems management, including 45001.
  • Experience with BRC Warehousing and Transport Standards.
  • Finance Experience.
  • Continuous Improvement methodology qualification.

    Salary for Regional Health & Safety Advisor between £40,000pa to £47,500pa depending on experience.
  • Hours of work are Monday - Friday, from 08:30hrs - 17:00hrs.
