We are currently recruiting for an award-winning civil engineering contractor, seeking a dedicated Health and Safety Advisor to join their established team working on a brand-new multi-million pound Power Transmission Framework project.

Role Overview:
As a Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a vital role in promoting and maintaining a safe working environment for this significant project. You will be responsible for implementing and enforcing health and safety policies and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Accommodation, travel, and subsistence expenses will be fully covered by the contractor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and review health and safety policies, procedures, and management systems to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify hazards, assess risks, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate potential safety issues.
- Provide advice and guidance to project teams on health and safety matters, including the safe use of equipment, PPE requirements, and emergency procedures.
- Deliver health and safety training and induction programmes for employees and subcontractors, ensuring that all personnel are adequately informed and trained to perform their duties safely.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, documenting findings and recommending preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, clients, and other stakeholders on health and safety matters, representing the company’s interests and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
- Monitor and report on health and safety performance, including key performance indicators (KPIs), to senior management and project stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree or diploma in occupational health and safety, environmental management, or a related field.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in occupational health and safety.
- Proven experience in a health and safety advisory role within civil engineering.
- Thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and standards applicable to the construction sector.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent organisational and analytical abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
