Position

An opportunity has arisen for a Health and Wellbeing Assistant at North West Kilmarnock Area Centre.

What you will do:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Band 3 Health and Wellbeing assistants to join the East Ayrshire Community Mental Health Team.

You will carry responsibility for a caseload of patients under the supervision of a registered nurse and to carry out one to one and group based interventions to monitor and enhance the physical and mental wellbeing of the patients open to the Community Mental Health team.

You will be required to set up and manage Clinics to monitor the physical health of patients on the CMHT caseload who are prescribed a variety of Psychotropic and stimulant medications

Knowledge, training and/or experience required to do the job:

You will have relevant experience as a Senior Healthcare/Nursing assistant working in the health service/similar post, or SVQ level 3 or equivalent in health sciences and experience working with people who have mental health problems and complex needs.

Confidence and competence in Venepuncture is desired although training can be arranged.

Previous experience of working in community settings is a desirable element of this post. 

Hours:

37 per week

From 1 April 2024, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change workers in Scotland will be reduced.  Full-time hours will reduce from 37.5 to 37 hours (pro rata for part-time staff) without loss of earnings.

NHS Ayrshire and Arran will implement this change but it may not be possible to fully transition from 1 April and there may therefore be some areas of the organisation where implementation may take longer.  If the department is currently unable to safely accommodate the reduced hours from 1st April, you may be required to work 37.5 hours per week (pro rata for part-time staff)  until the department can meet the requirements without impacting patient safety - you will, of course, be remunerated accordingly. NHS Ayrshire and Arran is committed to full implementation of the 37 hour working week across all areas as soon as it is safe to do so
