Full Job Description
NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic Healthcare Support Worker to join our friendly team within the Bignold Ward at Caithness General Hospital, Wick.
We are a busy 21-bed post-acute and rehabilitation ward. We care for a variety of complex conditions such as stroke and neurological conditions, orthopaedics and elderly care. This has led our team to develop an advanced skill set in many different areas of nursing.
As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will be supported in completing further training and gaining the experience needed to deliver a high standard of evidence based patient centred care. You will be working closely with the multi-disciplinary team and will play a key role in implementing rehabilitation goals. You will also be an essential team member by supplying pressure area care and personal care to vulnerable patients.
This is a permanent part-time post of 34.1 hours per week, working a rotational contract and covering a 7-day rota in accordance with service requirements.
Informal enquires should be made to Samantha Lea, Senior Charge Nurse, Tel: /314 or email: Samantha.lea4@nhs.scot
Recruitment team can be contacted by e-mailing northarea.recruitment@nhs.scot or by telephoning /880410.
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for a Skilled Worker visa or a Health and Care Worker visa. NHS Highland is unable to provide candidates with a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) for this role.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week. If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
