Within NHS Tayside we are expanding opportunities for Health Care Support Workers to develop.

As a Healthcare Support Worker you will be working at the heart of our multidisciplinary teams delivering high quality, patient-centred care. You will be supervised and report to an Assistant Practitioner or Registered Nurse.  This will require you to be able to communicate effectively with a broad range of individuals, both verbally and in writing, to share our commitment to maintaining high standards in everything we do, and to demonstrate that you can work effectively within a team that behaves in accordance with our vision and values.

We are seeking to recruit people who are committed to delivering outstanding patient care, taking pride in what they do and are enthusiastic, reliable, hardworking and motivated to learn and develop.  A caring professional manner and excellent communication skills are essential.  You must work well in a high pressure environment and have the ability to adapt to challenging situations.

The post will be based in either Ward 5 (Medicine for the Elderly), Acute Medicine for the Elderly (AME), Ward 33 (which will be opened over the coming weeks) and AMU Frailty Assessment and moving within these areas if required to support with patient care. These areas provide inpatient care which is patient-centred and aims to maximise each patients potential for recovery which is supported by an excellent Multi Disciplinary Team.

Ward 5 is a 18 bedded unit that supports with a longer patient journey, while AME and Ward 33 are 24 / 18 bedded units that support a patient journey of 48 72hrs. The AFU is a 6 bedded admissions area - an exciting addition to our older people pathway.

We are recruiting Band 2 Healthcare Support Workers to training posts, where on successful completion of in house training you will progress to a Band 3.

Various Hours

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
