Full Job Description

Working as part of the Substance Misuse Service under the direction of the Registered Nurse, the Health Care Support Worker will have a significant role in delivering care to patients.

The role will entail supporting clinical staff to deliver, routine clinics/care within the Health Centre and at times in the Residential Prison Halls, including Medication Administration, Health Checks, low level psycho social interventions, behavioural change, while working in collaboration with the wider multidisciplinary health team and the Scottish Prison Service. Experience working within a drug and alcohol recovery environment is essential

You must display good communication and interpersonal skills, be organised and have experience of working within a caring environment. You will be committed to delivering high quality safe and effective patient centred care to this complex group within this unique setting.

Hours of work are:  0700-1700 shifts, worked over 7 days.  Part time applicants will be considered.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
