Full Job Description

As a Highway Design Engineer, you will be at the forefront of designing and improving trunk roads, local authority road networks, active travel routes, and public realm projects.

The role is offered on a temporary (PAYE) basis until end of January 2025 at least

**Key Responsibilities:**

- Develop comprehensive designs for trunk roads, local authority road networks, active travel, and public realm projects.
- Create detailed design drawings using AutoCAD.
- Prepare design specifications in line with the UK Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW).
- Draft Vehicle Restraint Systems (VRS), Earthworks, and Traffic Sign schedules (preferred).
- Conduct Designer’s Risk Assessments to ensure safety and compliance.
- Estimate project costs with precision.

**Essential Skills and Experience:**

- Profound knowledge of highway geometry and ancillary works design, adhering to UK DMRB, UK MCHW, Local Authority Guidelines, UK Traffic Signs Manual, UK Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions, and LTN1/20 and LTN1/24 in England.
- Proficient in Civil 3D and AutoCAD design software packages.
- Familiarity with the UK DMRB RRRAP VRS design tool (preferred).
- Experience with Causeway (PDS) Line and Sign design software packages (preferred).
- Competent in using ProjectWise common data environment.
