The role of our Home carers has changed and is focusing now on four priority areas:- Enablement / Rapid Response / Complex and palliative care / Remote and rural areas

As a Home Carer with Aberdeenshire Council you will work alongside a team of professionals within Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership. You will be involved in providing specialist care and support to service users across these four priorities, to allow service users to build upon their skills and abilities to live independently, while promoting their rights, autonomy and choices.  For more information about the changes in Home Care and the four service priorities, visit -

As an employer, Aberdeenshire Council will provide and fund all required training including facilitation and attainment of an SVQ2 qualification.  You will also be provided with your work uniform and all personal protective equipment (including an electronic hand held device) required to undertake the role safely and effectively.

Driving licence and access to own car is essential.

3 Positions available 18 hours, 36 hours & 24 Hours

Post is 18 hours per week worked over 3 days on a 2 week rolling rota pattern: week 1 Wed/Thur/Fri am/lunch ; Week 2 Fri/Sat/Sun tea/bed.
example shift times: 0700-1300; 1600-1830 and 1900-2230. Rota pattern is set but start/end break times of shifts may vary slightly due to service user needs.
Additional hours may be available to cover annual leave/sickness.
Base is Aberchirder but covers rural areas and also may be required to go Cornhill and Portsoy.

Requirements

36 hours worked over 3 days on a 2 week rolling rota pattern: week 1 Mon/Wed/Fri; Week 2 Tue/Thu/Sat. Example shift times: 0700-1045, 1115-1330 and 1600-1830, 1915-2245. Rota pattern is set but start/end/break times of shifts may vary slightly due to service user needs.
Base is Aberchirder but will include rural areas, Cornhill and Portsoy area.

24 hours worked over 3 days on a 3 week rolling rota: week 1 - Mon tea/bed; Thur am/lunch; Fri double shift. Week 2 - Mon am/lunch; Thu tea/bed; Sat double shift. Week 3 Mon am/lunch; Thu tea/bed; Sun double shift. Example shift times: 0700-1300; 1600-1900 and 1930-2230. Rota pattern is set but start/end/break times of shifts may vary slightly due to service user needs. Post is based in village of Cornhill but may include work in Aberchirder and Portsoy.

There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

This post is regulated work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

This post will require you to have obtained SSSC registration within 3 months of employment. Due to the changes to SSSC and the closure to the SSSC portal, the 3 months will start counting from the 3rd of June 2024.

You must hold a current British valid driving licence and access to a car.

This post has a minimum requirement of two references, one of these must be your current or most recent employer.
