Salary: £31219.15 - £34248.64 pro rata per annum
Contract Duration: Temporary until 10/08/2025

Please note that the annual salary advertised is for a full-time role, based on 35.00/37.00 hours per week. If the position you are applying for is part time or you are only going to be working part of the year, i.e., a term time contract for 38 or 39 weeks per year, the annual salary will be paid on a pro-rata basis including a number of additional weeks for annual leave entitlement when the position is term time.
Recruitment Profile
We are seeking to recruit an experienced and skilled member of staff, with a background in working with children and families.
The post holder will contribute to:-
• Increasing attendance
• Reducing exclusions
• Increasing attainment
• Developing positive home-school relationships
The post holder will work with individual children and families/carers.
The service is aimed at delivering early interventions at a local (school-based) level thus alleviating the need for more formal referral procedures. A key responsibility of the post holder is to link with other agencies and organisations in the community that may be already working with individual children and families or who can play a positive role in interventions.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
• Act as a link between home and school including making home visits
• Offer a range of support services to children and families identified as requiring support
• Support children and families to increase school attendance and minimise unauthorised absences • Work with identified children during the school day on a 1:1 or small group basis
• Talk with and support the young person in school, and encouraging pupils through direct contact to be positive about their future.
• Recommend and develop strategies within the school intended to improve the attendance/behaviour of particular pupils
• Support parents to develop and maintain a positive relationship with the school
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with partner agencies working in and around the school
• Work in partnership with Pastoral PTs to ensure consistency in approach.
• Focus on positive destinations for targeted group of S4 pupils (supporting PT Pastoral 16+ Choices)
Essential
A sound educational background, preferably with qualifications to at least Higher level.
A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post. * If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability.
