HR and OD Manager

£45K minimum (plus benefits)


Our client is a fast paced, growing, highly successful, people focussed manufacturing and service organisation based in a new state of the art global headquarters in Glasgow.

Due to their significant growth the time is now right for them to recruit their first ever HR and OD Manager.

Reporting to the Managing Director and as a key member of the Executive team, in this stand-alone role, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our client’s people strategy. As HR and OD Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our client’s human resource function. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to develop and implement HR strategies that align with our client’s business objectives and promote a positive working culture.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and implementing HR policies, procedures, and guidelines as required, promoting consistency and fairness in their application, and ensuring compliance with both best practice and employment legislation.
  • Overseeing the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding, employee development and succession planning.
  • Driving organisational development activities, including performance management, talent management and training needs analysis.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing guidance on HR matters and contributing to strategic decision making.
  • Represent HR within the Executive team.
  • Give counsel and oversee employee relations issues such as grievance, discipline.
  • Translating key data into an effective and commercially focussed HR and people strategy, working with senior management, and influencing them on the best course of action.
  • Champion a performance culture and continuously review productivity and employee development making recommendations for improvements.
  • Continuously review the responsibilities of the HR department and make bold decisions as necessary.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • Ideally degree educated with a formal CIPD qualification
  • Experience of being single point of contact for HR (or a desire to be)
  • At least 5 years of progressive HR experience, with a focus on leadership and strategic development
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation and best practice HR initiatives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • A positive “can-do” attitude
  • Demonstrable ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
