Full Job Description

Job Title: Health & Safety Manager

Location: Dundee, Office based

Job Type: Full time, permanent

We are recruiting for a Health & Safety Manager role based in Dundee, working with a well-established civil engineering contractor specialising in infrastructure and groundworks projects across Central Scotland, including Dundee, Tayside, Fife, and Edinburgh.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a safe working environment and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Oversee subcontractors to ensure adherence to safe working practices.
  • Conduct quality audits and investigate non-conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Carry out internal audits and represent the company during external ISO audits.
  • Coordinate occupational health and safety surveys.
  • Identify and implement corrective actions from health and safety inspections, audits, and assessments.
  • Report non-compliance and risk issues to senior management and support the resolution process.
  • Collaborate with site managers to address health and safety challenges on-site.
  • Conduct thorough accident investigations where necessary.
  • Represent health and safety requirements in internal and external meetings.
  • Monitor and report on the company’s health and safety practices and systems.
  • Represent the company with clients and external agencies.
  • Take a proactive approach to working with client counterparts to ensure projects are delivered to specification and safely.

Requirements:

  • NEBOSH and IOSH qualifications are essential.
  • Experience as a Health & Safety Manager is essential.
  • Experience working on civil engineering or groundwork projects is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to guide and support others to fulfil their roles effectively.
  • Hands-on approach to promoting a strong safety culture both within the company and externally.
  • Ability to meet company deadlines and deliver results.
  • A full UK driving licence is required.
