Full Job Description
- Attend site to carry out HV switching operations in accordance with our electrical distribution safety rules
- Issuing of safety documents
- Identifying and spiking of cable circuits including fault location
- Testing of cable circuits
- Assist project and commissioning engineers with HV testing when required
- Plan and carry out work in a safe manner, always adhering to health and safety procedures
- Liaison with clients, consultants, and their representatives to ensure safe working practices
- Oversee and mentor junior engineers, competent persons and authorised persons who are working towards SAP status
- Manage interfaces between Powersystems and client / DNO SAP's
- Proactively look at ways to enhance the service offered by the business, and improve the efficiency of company processes
- Maintain a professional image at all times
- Embrace and demonstrate Powersystems 5 principles of: Priority No.1 - Health, Safety and Well-being, Professionalism, Pride, Partnership and Proactive
Experience with a utility or in electrical contracting as a Senior Authorised Person with authorisation for switching up to 33 kV - Have a good technical knowledge of HV switchgear, both current and obsolete equipment
- Flexible and organised to manage workload to meet deadlines
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work proactively on own or as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to Work within the UK without limitation
- A minimum of HNC in Electrical engineering or similar discipline
- Experience of switching at EHV levels (66-132 kV)
- Open to change, resilient and proactive
- Must be available to travel on work related business throughout the UK with occasional overnight stays
