The Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre (IBioIC) was established in 2014 to stimulate growth of the Industrial Biotechnology (IB) sector in Scotland by leveraging the knowledge and expertise in Scottish Universities and Further Education Colleges. IBioIC has become a European centre of excellence, connecting global industry with outstanding academic expertise to bring new IB processes and products to the international market.

Hosted by the University of Strathclyde, IBioIC is a key driver of Scotland’s National Plan for Industrial Biotechnology (NPIB) with ambitious goals to support a cluster of 220 companies, 4,000 jobs and £1.2bn in associated turnover by 2025. IBioIC has been pivotal in delivering growth, building a dynamic critical mass of connections and knowledge, to facilitate collaborations between the business community and Universities and Colleges, supporting skills and talent development, technical innovation in companies, scale-up support, and entrepreneurship training.

The Communications and Events Officer will deliver an exciting programme of events for IBioIC extensive national and international network. They will provide a comprehensive level of professional support for the project management and delivery of a range of events, including but not limited to the IBioIC annual conference, in person and online IBioIC events, third party events (members and partners), training courses, workshops, members-only events, student days and some larger meetings.

Applications are invited from candidates seeking a diverse but exciting job. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and build collaborative relationships with team members and external stakeholders. We encourage applications from people from a diversity of backgrounds and offer flexible, hybrid working across our Centre. The role may very occasionally require working outside of core hours.
