Full Job Description

37 hours per week, including evenings and weekends


You should hold a Level 2 Ice Technicians Certificate and First Aid at Work certificate both of which can be obtained once in employment.


JOB PURPOSE

To be responsible for the preparation of all areas within the ice hall, gym, studios and meeting rooms. To prepare all relevant areas for events and associated activities and to help create a friendly, welcoming, caring environment for customers of the facility.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Operational Duties

Key Tasks

• As a key holder you will be the senior person on duty in the absence of Ice Manager or other members of management team

• You will be responsible for creating and maintaining the desired image of the Centre through a welcoming, friendly approach to all customers

• To ensure the safety of customers through encouraging safe recreation and activity

• To attend First Aid cases, administering remedial treatment as may be defined in the Normal Operating Procedure and Emergency Action Plan

• To maintain a high standard of cleanliness in and around the centre at all times

• To act as a building key and alarm code holder and to operate in accordance with laid down operational systems and procedures

• To ensure the efficient operation of the Centre's day to day programme through the preparation for, assistance with, and clearing up after events and activities in accordance with Normal Operating Procedures


Sporting Activities and Meetings

Key Tasks

• Prepare ice for curling, skating and any other sports related activities and ensure all equipment is in good working order within the ice hall

• Prepare the Gym and Studios, and ensure areas are clean, clear of hazards and all equipment is in good working order

• To liaise with the Ice Manager to ensure the highest quality standards of ice are provided at all times.

• In conjunction with the management team ensure all areas are prepared for the relevant activities at the appropriate times

• Maintain and sharpen ice skates when required

• Maintain stones, hacks and all other curling equipment

• Prepare rooms/studios for meetings and events as per daily plans and clear away at end of booking

• Prepare audio equipment for bookings and ensure all in good working order


Health and Safety

Key Tasks

• To ensure day to day operational compliance with all appropriate operational procedures, Company guidelines, Acts of Parliament, Statutory Regulations, Codes of Practice etc.

• To ensure safety standards are adhered to when dealing with equipment, machinery and plant and record

• To operate safely the Olympia/Zamboni machines when preparing ice

• Complete check sheets for all tasks and follow risk assessment information for same

• To report defects to Ice manager or Deputy Manager at the earliest convenience


Training

Key Tasks

• To attend regular staff training sessions, be they held in-house or externally

• Ensure qualifications are kept up to date and valid.


General

Key Tasks

• To ensure you are physically fit to carry out your duties at all times

• Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection guidelines

• To undertake other related duties as may be required by the Company
