Full Job Description

The role reports to the Cabinet Office (CO) Head of Incident Management & Resilience , the Incident and Resilience manager is established to strengthen the Department's understanding of security incidents, management and breaches as well as being the senior advisor for the Business Continuity, Crisis Management and Incident Management functions. You will have a working knowledge of business continuity, incident management and crisis management and a broad understanding of how to manage these activities within a large organisation. The role is the operational lead for the reporting, collation, collection and management of security incidents within the CO providing a strategic view and operational advice in response to existing and emerging security-related incidents and data events to senior stakeholders. The role demands an assured and competent leader who can manage building departmental resilience for 10000 staff working across 40 business units and 30 sites to ensure the department can continue to deliver during periods of business disruption. Responsibilities:

  • Building relationships internally within the department and externally to enable effective risk assessment, preparation, response and recovery.
  • First point of escalation for the incident management team.
  • Use specialist knowledge, and internal and external sources of information to horizon scan for future issues.
  • Manage the Crisis Management Team operation within the Cabinet Office ensuring policy and processes are kept up to date, exercised and supported with secretariat activities when activated.
  • Direct line management of 2 HEO's who run the Incident and Business Continuity Management processes respectively and second line management for an EO who supports incident management.
  • Where appropriate, undertake or co-ordinate incident reporting, investigation, and recovery of assets
  • Produce and maintain emergency action plans such as for the emergency evacuation and protection of individuals and assets.
  • Manage the resilience risk registers
  • Carrying out education & awareness activity to reduce incidents and increase departmental preparedness.
  • Coordinate management of the Security & Resilience team risk register. Ensuring risks are identified and escalated as appropriate.
  • There may be a requirement to work outside of normal hours in periods of crisis.
  • Any other security or resilience related work in support of the team's objectives as required.
