Full Job Description

We are currently developing an independent advocacy service for children and young people experiencing mental illness so that they can understand their rights, access information and explore options, make informed decisions and have a voice when dealing with matters relating to their health, care and treatment.
Now all we need is that special person who shares our values and believes that children and young people have the right to be seen and heard and is committed to making this happen.

If you have a professional attitude, are highly motivated, positive and flexible then you may be the person we are looking for to deliver our service to children and young people throughout Aberdeenshire and further afield whether at home, in a specialist unit or in a hospital setting.
We welcome applications from all sectors of our community as we seek to fill this position which, although based at our rural office near Inverurie, will require extensive travel throughout both the Grampian region and elsewhere in Scotland to meet the needs of those receiving our support.

You will need to demonstrate experience of working alongside children and young people who can be marginalised due to challenging health, social and environmental factors that make them vulnerable, and have a broad understanding of the issues and barriers that they may face. Knowledge of mental health legislation and social policy as it impacts on children and young people would be desirable.
We are looking for someone who has excellent communication, organisational and time management skills, is IT literate and can work independently with minimum supervision.
A valid driving licence and use of a vehicle is a requirement.

18 hours per week - £27,118.06 per annum (pro rata) - fixed term 18 months with opportunity to extend subject to funding availability.
