Full Job Description

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) is the largest of Scotland’s seven regional transport partnerships.  As well as running the iconic Glasgow Subway, SPT delivers an extensive range of public transport services including bus stations and subsidised bus services, manages large transport infrastructure projects and is responsible for delivery of a long-term multi-modal transport strategy for the West of Scotland.

About the Role 

We have a great opportunity to join the Customer Services department as we focus on delivering the highest level of customer care to bus station users while working in a dynamic operational environment.  

You will provide travel information to members of the public and ensure a safe, secure and clean environment at any given designated SPT site.

The role of the Information Assistant is to deliver the best possible customer service to our customers.

About You

You will have experience in a customer-facing role or in a front-line customer oriented, commercial or operational environment. Experience of dealing with the public face to face, serving customers in line with company processes and procedure and capable of dealing with and resolving customer and issues.

You will have National 5 Level A-C or equivalent in English and Maths/Arithmetic and be computer literate and confident in using Microsoft Office Suite. 

You will be flexible and motivated to meet the needs of the business and have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and written and work effectively as part of the Bus Stations team. 

A working knowledge of public transport within the Strathclyde area is desirable, as is experience of using radio, public address or similar communication methods and cash handling.

You will be based at Buchanan Bus Station, Killermont Street, Glasgow; however, you could be asked to work at various locations within SPT’s remit.

The earliest start at any location will be 07:00 hours with the latest finishing time being 19:00 hours.

Please note, this position falls into the medium-risk category under the Alcohol and Drugs policy and therefore is subject to random and for-cause testing procedures.
