These explain the job role and the type of person we're looking for., Aberdeen City Council is currently in discussions with Trade Unions regarding a proposal to move from a standard 37-hour full-time working week to a standard 35-hour full-time working week. Please note: A decision has been reached, in consultation with our Trade Unions, that all new vacancies will be advertised on a maximum of 35 hours per week, and accordingly, new appointments made on a contract of 35 hours per week. Full Time Roles that require PVG Membership Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 11 and above (currently £30,727 per annum / £15.97 per hour) The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee's first FULL month's salary payment. job purpose/about the role This role's core purpose is to provide expert advice and support to improve information governance and data protection practice across the Council, and to support and deputise for the Council's statutory Data Protection Officer when required. You'll be a confident communicator who is comfortable translating their expert knowledge and experience into practical, meaningful advice and support - within the context of a large and diverse organisation, you will understand the importance of building relationships and taking a partnership approach to improving practice and culture.

  • Qualified to postgraduate level in a relevant law/information management/information governance related discipline, or significant equivalent
  • experience and the willingness to work toward a specialist postgraduate qualificationThe postholder is able to demonstrate:
  • Demonstrable experience providing advice and support on the full range of
  • information governance / data protection areas in a large complex organisation
  • Managing and leading multi-disciplinary teams and complex stakeholders at all
  • levels of the organisation
