Full Job Description

  • Production of cost effective instrumentation & control designs which meet project and customer requirements.
  • Take personal responsibility for safety and adhere to Petrofac's 'Eight Golden Rules'.
  • Live Petrofac core values and apply them in day-to-day work.
  • Provide instrumentation & control engineering technical support to, and implement instructions from, the Lead Engineer.
  • Work under supervision specifying modifications to existing equipment or purchase of new equipment.
  • ESD, DCS, F&G and Metering,Valves.
  • Field Instrumentation including Pressure, Level, Temperature, Flow and Specialist Measurements.
  • SIL, High Integrity Systems.
  • Industrial Networking and Communications.
  • Contribute to the development of the plans, schedules and estimates for the individual workscopes.
  • Ensure that all instrumentation & control design changes are captured by the change control process.
  • Ensure that all instrumentation & control engineering work is carried out in accordance with asset priorities and schedules as set out in the integrated plan.
  • Ensure as far as possible all assigned work is carried out in compliance with agreed budget and schedule.
  • Engage with instrument design personnel and other disciplines as required in the production of engineering and design deliverables.
  • Maintain the required technical quality of work.
  • Comply with Petrofac engineering procedures and industry, international and Client codes and standards relevant to the discipline.
  • Preparation of engineering and construction scope for both man-hours and equipment estimates where necessary.
  • Prepare estimates and assist in the review of proposed schedules.
  • Provide documentation and drawing deliverables for inclusion in workpacks and design books on time to meet offshore deadlines.
  • Produce cost effective designs that are fit for purpose and safe.
  • Ensure that results of any development work is fully utilised in discipline activities.
  • Participate as necessary in discussions with Client and visit jobsites when necessary, including offshore.
  • Assist the Lead, Principal or Senior Discipline Engineers when requested in the execution of their responsibilities and duties.
  • Keep up to date with technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the scope of the discipline.
  • Ensure that all instrumentation & control work is executed in compliance with project requirements, Petrofac Management System requirements and associated procedures and all relevant national and international standards, as appropriate.

    Degree or equivalent or HND/HNC in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Working towards Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status/member of a recognised institution preferred.
  • Necessary certification for travel offshore.
  • Conversant and knowledgeable with respect to current and new legislation and standards.
  • Must be willing to travel offshore/site.
  • Capable of representing Petrofac OPO and Client to business associates in a professional manner.
  • Team player.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office Applications and relevant discipline specific software.
  • Proactive and motivated to deliver.
  • Ability to investigate and interpret data.
  • Thorough with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to be responsive and open to changing circumstances.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates cross-cultural awareness and an ability to build effective working relationships across our global business.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience within the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical Industry is preferred but not essential.
  • Relevant experience should be in the development of a sound knowledge of instrumentation & control engineering principles and their application to engineering projects from conceptual to detailed engineering stages.
  • Sufficient post-qualification experience to be considered as possessing an adequate working knowledge of the discipline.
  • Suitable experience within other engineering industries will be considered where appropriate.
  • Brownfield project experience desirable.
