Full Job Description

An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Mid Argyll, Kintyre and Islay locality for an enthusiastic, flexible registered midwife, who wishes the opportunity to utilise their full range of skills in a mixed rural and town environment. The candidate must be confident to work autonomously in providing care to families in Mid Argyll in a range of environments, they must also work well as a member of a team. The candidate will be able to provide a full range of evidence based, health education and social care advice in keeping with current drivers.

The service is proactive in supporting local services, whether at home or within the maternity unit, any applicant should be keen to promote this. A Newly Qualified practitioner could be considered for this post at band 5 until Flying Start completed. 

There is an on-call commitment with this post and a full driving license is essential. The base for the post will be in Lochgilphead/ Mid Argyll Area.

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
