Full Job Description

WA is partnering with an engineering business based in Lanarkshire to help source an Interim Financial Controller for a 6 month contract.

This role will be responsible for the production of all accounting deliverables for the firm and ensuring financial controls are enforced across the business.

This role can operate on a hybrid basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing the Accounts Receivable and the Accounts Payable ledgers
  • Preparation of high quality Management Accounts for review
  • Improving financial processes to ensure an effective reporting structure and create robust methodologies
  • Production of annual Financial Statements (as required) and primary liaison with external auditors
  • Ensure compliance with both government and internal tax reporting and filing - VAT, CT, CIS, PAYE settlement agreement, P11Ds
  • Assisting in the process for long-term financial planning, forecasting and budgeting
  • Monitoring financial position, banking and financing activities by reviewing the banks positions on a daily basis, seeking best returns on surplus funds and liaising with head office in respect of any funding requirements
  • Management of the online banking processes
  • Build and maintain robust models for PL and cash flows
  • Ensure that this information is accurately reflected within the forecasting and actuals;
  • Act as a financial advisor offer general financial support to the business decision makers
  • Introduce effective commercial strategy
  • Managing ERP system (SAP) and maintenance of the system across all companies

Knowledge Skills Required:

  • Qualified accountant with 5+ years post-qualified experience in the sector with business-partnering skills
  • Experience of reporting/communicating financial information to non-finance individuals and ability to think long term
  • Demonstrate a highly organised, systematic and forward-looking approach to undertaking key priorities.
  • The confidence to challenge current practices and initiate new ones to improve efficiency

Essential Skills

  • Commercial minded with ability to see the bigger picture
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret raw data and translate it into clear, concise information
  • The ability to explain complex financial data to non-finance individuals
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS-Office 365, in particular EXCEL
  • Experience in managing auditors, tax advisors and other external advisors
  • Ability to apply knowledge and creativity to resolve complex issues
  • Knowledge of UK GAAP and IFRS

Desirable Skills

  • German language
  • Working knowledge of SAP (FI, CO, MM, Purchase Orders and maintenance)
  • Knowledge of the Roads OM sector
  • Knowledge of CONFIRM software
