Full Job Description

Hutcheon Mearns are exclusively engaged to recruit an International Tax Manager for a highly acquisitive Private Equity backed business which provides services to the offshore energy industry, both in renewables and oil and gas. This is a unique and exciting opportunity which will offer the successful candidate exceptional career development opportunities.

This position is a key role the Groups' Tax Department and will be responsible for the management and execution of tax compliance, reporting and advisory functions across the overseas jurisdictions in which it operates. The Tax Manager will also work with the Head of Tax on implementing Global tax improvements and initiatives including systems improvements, documenting tax processes and specific tax projects.

As this is a new position, we encourage applicants who are either at Manager level looking for a fresh and exciting new opportunity or alternatively, applicants who would develop into the role over time. Full time, part time and flexible working arrangements will be considered.

The Opportunity

Tax compliance and reporting:

  • Manage all overseas direct tax reporting/filings for the business
  • Compile and report tax payments made across overseas jurisdictions and ensure that adequate documentation is maintained
  • Support transfer pricing policy implementation, monitoring and compliance
  • Support the preparation of tax disclosures and schedules for overseas legal entity financial statements where required
  • Track, understand and report the tax compliance cycle in each jurisdiction
  • Prepare and maintain tax risk register and ensure that all material overseas provided and unprovided tax risks are identified, understood, and tracked
  • Manage and work with External Auditors to ensure that the tax audit process is completed smoothly

Tax advisory support:

  • For any work in new foreign jurisdictions, responsible for engaging with local tax advisors to ensure all tax risks are well understood and communicated to the business
  • Provide support to the local finance teams on VAT / GST compliance and queries
  • Actively support group tax projects aiding the Head of Tax in implementing tax improvement projects as the business continues to grow. This will include entity rationalization projects and reviewing options to optimise cash tax costs whilst balancing the requirement to remit funds from the regions to Group treasury
  • Manage and resolve overseas tax enquiries, audits, and disputes
  • Monitor changes in tax laws that may impact the Group's tax positions
  • Group tax payment forecasting throughout the year

Background and Experience

  • Recognized professional tax and / or accountancy qualification
  • Demonstrable international tax experience (either in practice or industry)
  • Ability to work as a team player as part of a small tax team
  • Confident and professional manner
  • Ability to deliver under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills for dealing with internal and external stakeholders
