Full Job Description

We are currently recruiting for multiple Investigators, across various departments.

These roles are Fixed Term Contracts up to 24 months.


In this role you will be responsible for conducting full and thorough investigations, the nature of which may include but is not limited to:


  • Large Scale Investigations which are complex and protracted.
  • Non-Criminal and Criminal Complaints about the Police.
  • Investigations of a highly sensitive nature involving Discipline, Grievance, Bullying and Harassment, Domestic abuse and other reported wrongdoing within the workplace.
  • Resolving complaints about the police and workplace issues.
  • Public Inquiries/Fatal Accident Inquiries/Complaint Handling Reviews.

As an investigator within Professional Standards, you will play a key role in administering, investigating, and resolving complaints made by members of the public about the police. This is a unique opportunity to join a highly specialised environment, where communication and decision-making is key. With positions available in Edinburgh, Glenrothes, Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness and Glasgow (Dalmarnock), a role within Professional Standards offers you the opportunity to join a dynamic, crucial and continually developing part of the service.


The Public and Fatal Accident Inquiry Unit has offices in both Perth and Dalmarnock and is responsible for the collation of all information and evidence relating to any ongoing Public Inquiry/Fatal Accident Inquiry involving Police Scotland. The team acts as the single point of contact in order to ensure a consistent approach to ingathering, review and disclosure of material in support of all legal requests.


Major Crimes Investigators roles are available to conduct enquiries into complex large-scale investigations across Scotland, based in the North, East and West. Such investigations would include Operation KOPER which relates to deaths that occurred during Covid within care, health and custody settings. Additionally, investigators would be required to assist Operation CHALK which relates to non-recent reports of abuse within the care setting.

RESIDENCY AND ELIGIBILITY TO WORK IN THE UK
