IT Systems Support Engineer

My Client, owner of one of the industries largest fleet of vessels, is looking to take on an IT Systems Support Engineer to join their team on a full time permanent basis.

This role will see you supporting the Aberdeen office, as well as some of the global sites and also their vessels when dry docked in harbors such as Aberdeen, Montrose and Peterhead. You will also be involved in project planning for tasks like vessel IT upgrades and refreshes, from the point of planning the project to implementing it. This role will also include an element of research work, figuring out solutions to some of the trickier or more obscure problems, and kit to be implemented into the new projects. You will work with a variety of systems from Desktop, Server, Networking and IT Infrastructure, generally from 2nd-3rd line level.

This role would be suited to an IT Engineer with a good rounded mix of experience in IT, having worked with a variety of tech and with some experience in project planning. Any demonstrable experience in networking would also be beneficial. In terms of skills, you should have excellent time management skills and be able to effectively manage your workload, and good people skills are also essential to interact with stakeholders at all levels.

Please note, there will be some ad-hoc travel in this role, which will see you attend harbors for single day trips, however there will also be some occasional trips that would last a few days, both UK and abroad, but these will be shared across the successful candidate and the existing team to limit any one team members travel.

A full UK Drivers License is essential to be considered for the role.
