Job Description

Our friendly team at Meallmore are looking for a Kitchen Assistant to be part of the team in Mearns House Care Home. Conveniently located in Newton Mearns, Mearns House is an industry-leading care home, built and designed in 2016 to exceed national care standards and provide the highest levels of comfort, happiness and security for residents. We provide luxury living for older people in a homely environment. We cater for a wide range of care needs including high quality, personalised nursing and dementia care and have installed some of the latest technology to create an environment that is as safe and comfortable as possible.

As a Kitchen Assistant, Meallmore will allocate you your own mentor, as well as a comprehensive induction process. But why stop there? Our mentorship programme and ongoing training will give you all the support you need to develop your skills and progress in your career whether that be a Second Chef or Head Chef, the choice is yours!

Your role as a Meallmore Kitchen Assistant will include:

  • Keeping the kitchen areas clean and tidy
  • Supporting the catering team with basic food preparation as they create seasonal meals for our residents
  • Properly cleaning and sanitising all food preparation areas according to established standards of hygiene
  • Assist with specialist dietary requirements
  • Serve nutritional meals

Desired skills:

  • Basic knowledge of food preparation
  • Basic knowledge of food hygiene
  • The ability to stand for extended periods
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to work in a team

Salary: £11.50 per hour + benefits + overtime
