Full Job Description

1. Assisting with the design and assembly of equipment and apparatus for use in experiments.
2. Preparing laboratory standard solutions and mixtures for use in practical classes.
3. Organising and maintaining science equipment and ensuring they are stored safely.
4. Carrying out stock control in conjunction with the Science Technician.
5. Preparing and filing paperwork for lessons at appropriate times throughout the academic year., To assist the Science Technician in preparing practical experiments and paperwork for the science classes. The job also involves cleaning and maintenance of equipment within the science department. The Jobholder is responsible for ensuring that equipment is available for use by teachers and students.

Educated to SVQ2, National Certificate, Higher or equivalent in a relevant discipline and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience working in a Laboratory environment., Disability Confident

North Berwick High School is a secondary school in the beautiful coastal town of North Berwick, which received an excellent HMIE inspection report in June 2020. The current school roll is 1042. This post is within our Sciences faculty, which includes classes in biology, chemistry and physics. There are eleven teaching staff, one Science technician and a laboratory assistant all managed by the faculty leader. In addition to the more generic S1 and S2 classes, each specific subject in the faculty is taught at S3, National 4 and 5, Higher and Advanced Higher levels.
