Full Job Description

GSK are currently recruiting for a Laboratory Scientist to join our team at Irvine. The Laboratory Scientist will complete the required product testing in a safe and compliant way to ensure the analysis generates accurate data to enable product disposition to be assigned.,

  • Sample, test, report and validate final products, intermediates, raw materials and in-process samples to defined procedures

  • Consistently operate to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Laboratories Practices (GLP) standards to ensure compliant product testing

  • Maintain and calibrate a wide range of analytical equipment to ensure continual production of accurate and precise results

  • Utilise theoretical and practical knowledge to aid interpretation of results and troubleshooting

  • Demonstrate proficiency in routine laboratory information systems to interpret and report results

  • Work in a compliant manner to ensure the safety of yourself, others and the protection of the environment

  • Identify, participate and implement Continuous Improvements opportunities

  • Seek, recommend and implement continuous improvement opportunities to minimise waste and remove risk from the business

  • Complete all actions arising from internal/external audit commitments.

  • Order reference standards to support lab analysis and monitor stability cabinet and retained sample operations to ensure no detrimental impact on testing and compliance (Raw Materials only) , We believe in an agile working culture for all our roles.   • HND Level or equivalent in appropriate discipline

  • Technical knowledge and experience of analytical science

  • Relevant experience of working without close supervision

  • Experience of participation in inter-departmental teams working on quality related problems

  • Ability to trouble shoot problem analytical methods/instrumentation and implement solutions


  • Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

    Please note the following skills are not necessary, just preferred, if you do not have them, please still apply:
  • Degree in appropriate scientific discipline

  • Knowledge of GMP, GLP and Regulatory issues

  • High motivation and an ability to operate within a team

  • Ability to escalate issues to Team Leader as appropriate

  • Communication and Influencing Skills

  • Knowledge of Quality Management System (QMS) including GQMPs and GQPs

  • Knowledge of data handling laboratory systems

  • Good knowledge of relevant analytical techniques
