Job Title: Lead Application Engineer
Contract Type: Permanent

Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Application Engineer to
join our dynamic team at Royal London
. As a Lead Application Engineer, you will play a crucial role in providing deep technical expertise to help our teams design, develop, test, and implement efficient solutions that meet business and customer requirements.
The successful candidate will have a real impact into how Royal London develop our applications and will provide a blend of both solid leadership experience and technical expertise.
You will be given the opportunity to grow your career within a team focussed on promoting internal career progression. This role is focussed on the Sonata application which forms part of the new Pensions application stack and contributes to our purpose of strengthening the mutual choice for our customers, by providing the best technology solutions to our customers.
Key responsibilities

-Drives the delivery of complex technical solutions within own area of technical expertise.
-Develop in-depth technical knowledge of Sonata
-Provides technical advice and guidance to other software developers, proactively and reactively.
-Takes responsibility for ensuring technical solutions are safely implemented to production environment(s) without impact to internal or external customers.
-Encourages close collaboration with other disciplines within the team.
-Manages dependencies with other teams.
-Takes an active role on the transfer of knowledge and sharing of ideas and experiences.

-Technical knowledge of one or more programming languages

-Enterprise experience working across the full software development lifecycle.
-Be passionate about driving a modern and inclusive culture.
-Can manage own workload whilst scheduling and allocating work to other developers.
-A growth mindset with the ability to lead, support, coach and mentor others.
-Able to communicate at all levels in an engaging and collaborative manner.
-Ability to lead a team.
-Good understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
-Awareness of agile development practices.
-Experience of using Sonata or equivalent technology (desirable)
