Full Job Description

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.

The shift pattern for this position is Monday - Friday.

The postholder supports the Service Manager and is responsible for the professional management, leadership and development of occupational therapy across Leverndale Hospital, possessing detailed knowledge of working practices and challenges within the context of mental health modernisation and the national and local agendas.

The post holder demonstrates and applies a high level of expert clinical knowledge through evidence based practice and ensures that it is embedded into practice across their area of responsibility.

Directs and organises the provision of occupational therapy and the monitoring and maintenance of high professional standards within the context of a clinical governance framework. Demonstrates competencies within the scope and standards of practice determined by the College of Occupational Therapists, the Health Care Professions Council and mental health services.

Supports the progression of national agendas of joint future of mental health and occupational therapy integration through work with the local authorities across the south sector. Provides occupational therapy professional identity and focus within the multi-disciplinary and multi-agency context.
