Full Job Description

  • Leading the creation and maintenance of project plans for the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) programmes and/or restructuring existing project plans following major change, including base lining/re-base lining

  • Supporting the governance, guidance, and tuition of other members of the project planning team, in all topics associated with project planning, including toolset functionality and capability. Will have line management responsibility to small team

  • Operating in this capacity will require the individual to act as adviser to, and deputy for the Project Planning manager

  • Acting as focal point for communication on the plan(s), both internal and external stakeholders from UK and Canada

  • Monitoring the plans to ensure that a common approach to structure is being adopted, based on Naval Ships processes, and challenge non-compliances

  • Breakdown/partition the high levels plan, maintaining the declared key dates, to produce the integrated lower-level plans as definition is made available, consistent with the lifecycle stage of the programme

  • Verifying that functional outputs comply with business quality standards

    Experience planning with High Value Complex projects across various stages of the lifecycle

  • Demonstrates advanced IT skills and is proficient in the use of appropriate packages (Primavera, MS Office, etc)


  • Desirable:
  • A professional Project Management Qualification such as the APM Project Management Qualification or another appropriate professional body, or be willing to work towards accreditation

  • Experience with Earned Value Management and Critical Path Management

  • Line Management experience within a small Planning team
