Who are we?


Kibble is Scotland’s specialist provider of services for at risk children and young people. By providing a range of integrated services, we help build positive futures for children and young people aged 5 plus, with complex social, emotional and educational needs.  


Job Purpose: 


Kibble is committed to supporting the development of an appropriately and professionally qualified workforce which we believe is pivotal in the design and delivery of outstanding as we strive to leave positive impacts on the lives of our young people, whilst developing a best-in-class workforce.


This role is key to the delivery of the Learning and Development strategy and vision to lead on the provision of professional qualification for the LAAC sector in Scotland and the UK.


The Learning and Development officer will predominately focus on the delivery of SVQs (Full and Partial awards) for staff who require this in order to meet their minimum registration requirements. They will also be expected to be involved in other training and L&D activity.


Main Duties:


  • Deliver SVQ in Children & Young People at levels 3 and ideally at level 4, including Modern Apprenticeships.
  • To support, advise and motivate learners so that they have the best chance of success and a positive outcome.
  • To work closely with the Workforce Development Manager to coordinate qualification nominations and to help Kibble meet its registration requirements.
  • Observe learners in their place of work to gather evidence towards their qualification.
  • Organise and maintain documentation on learners’ progress including updating online systems.
  • Deliver and support other Learning and Development interventions, including but not limited to; Induction and practice-based training.
  • Evaluate all learning activity using effective methods and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of training activity, attendance, and evaluation results. 
  • Maintain your professional CPD by keeping up to date with the latest trends and best practices in the learning and development sector.
  • Manage relationships with external training providers and partners as required.
  • Support the implementation of the organisation's learning and development strategy.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience 


Essential

  • Hold a minimum of SVQ 3 and or SVQ 4 in Social Services/Children and Young People or equivalent. 
  • Meet the registration requirements with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) for Children an Young People.
  • Assessor award (e.g. D32/33, L&D9I)
  • The successful candidate must have a Driving License.
  • Proficient at using Microsoft products – Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good organisational skills and can work in a busy team or independently.


Desirable

  • SVQ 4 in Social Services/Children and Young People or equivalent.
  • Verifier award (e.g. D34, L&D11).
  • An understanding of the Modern Apprenticeship framework including the use of FIPS, and other SDS platforms.
  • Teaching or training qualification such as AET, PTTLS, TQFE, TAP, CERT Ed.
  • Experience of delivering on-the-job training to staff within a care environment
