The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) is undergoing an ambitious strategic transformation and requires your skills and experience in the role of Legal Director, to help drive improvements., As the ambitious COPFS Strategic Plan 2023-27 is underway, there is opportunity for the Senior Leadership team to adapt and evolve accordingly. The posts of Legal Director are newly revised roles pivotal in driving forward the strategic, operational, and cultural change detailed in the plan. Reporting to the Crown Agent and Chief Executive (CACE), your principal focus will be developing and implementing new strategies, legislation and policy changes ensuring these are embedded seamlessly across your area of legal responsibility. You will do so by combining your extensive prosecution and legal experience with organisational leadership. Working collaboratively with other Legal Directors across the organisation and the Chief Operating Officer you will deliver responsive advice, support and briefings to the CACE and Law Officers which will assist with governance across COPFS. You will manage the effective operational work of COPFS across a range of areas including High Court & Specialist Casework, Death Investigation & Homicide, Local Court and Litigation and Public Enquiries. As Legal Director you will use your organisational and leadership intelligence, be able to anticipate problems and ensure the effective management of performance, allocation of portfolio resource and delivery of strategic objectives. You will provide sound advice and workable solutions in relation to future organisational challenges to the CACE and Law Officers. Working in a challenging, focussed and rapidly evolving environment you will have responsibility for overseeing COPFS' budget preparations, providing analysis, challenge and support on the allocation of resource. Each post will oversee a legal remit which will see you utilising your experience in providing quality leadership across a varied portfolio as you engage with senior and executive stakeholders and external suppliers to achieve the strategic aims and ambitions of the service. COPFS are currently recruiting to fill one Permanent vacancy and one Fixed-Term vacancy with two strong and experienced leaders who can engage and inspire colleagues while driving performance improvement, playing a critical role in the next stage of our journey., COPFS are currently recruiting to fill one Permanent vacancy and one Fixed-Term vacancy (12 months with the possibility of extension or permanency). A reserve list for 12 months may be created from this exercise, should any future Legal Director roles become available at COPFS, these will be offered in merit order to reserve candidates. The starting salary is from £108,393 (full-time). A contributory pension scheme is in operation, with employees' contributions of 7.35% and employers' contributions of 28.97%. These posts can be based in any COPFS office. The post holders will regularly travel to Edinburgh, Glasgow and other COPFS offices across Scotland and will attend weekly in-person meetings in Edinburgh.?, We offer an excellent range of benefits which include:
