Full Job Description

We are looking for an experienced legal secretary to provide full secretarial and administrative support to our Debt & Asset Recovery department.

  • Liaising with lawyers to identify their work commitments and prioritise work accordingly
  • Diary management
  • Arranging meetings and appointments both internally and externally
  • Managing production of documents (supported by the Document Production team) including preparation of course documents, precognitions, affidavits, inventory of productions/list of authorities
  • Audio and copy typing for complex and confidential documents (typing will also be supported by the Document Production team)
  • Handle client telephone enquiries in a polite & professional manner within the agreed timescales
  • General administration
  • Assist lawyers in the billing and credit control process
  • Booking travel and meetings and dealing with expenses (if required)
  • Participate in projects at the discretion of management

Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:

  • Legal secretarial experience required
  • Experience of dealing directly with clients by telephone
  • Excellent computer skills including word and email
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills – ability to communicate orally and in writing
  • Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines under pressure
  • Ability to use initiative
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience with BigHand would be beneficial for this role
  • Litigation experience would be advantageous
