Contract Type: Temporary until 01/05/2025
Salary: £14095 - £14953

Evidencing the Social Impact of Public Libraries is a collaborative research project examining how people use and benefit from public libraries. The project is a partnership between Stirling Council and Stirling University financed by the Scottish Library and Information Council’s Public Library Improvement Fund and is guided by an Advisory Board with representatives from a number of Scottish public library services. The research project has been funded for a year. The current post holder has moved on, creating an opportunity to complete work and report on the research. The project will make recommendations on how best to evaluate and record the impact libraries have on individuals and communities with a toolkit for wider use being created. You will continue the work begun gathering and analysing data from library users and event attendees of all age groups and backgrounds to assess the benefits of library use. You will conduct and write up the research with support from Stirling University academic Dr Katherine Champion on detailed study design.

You will have an MSc/MA in an appropriate discipline, skills in data gathering and analysis, reporting and presentation. You will be confident to work independently. You will have project management capabilities as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a good current awareness of libraries and their use is desirable.

A flexible approach to the working week, which may include evening and weekend working, is essential.

If you’ve got the right skills for the job we want to hear from you. We encourage applications from the right candidates regardless of age (restrictions apply to Modern Apprenticeships), disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, belief or race.
