Library Assistant (7/01688)

Stranraer Academy

£7,185.74 - £7,567.92

You will be required to work 13 hours per week, 38 weeks per year.

Dumfries and Galloway’s approach to Education looks to combine the traditional values, ethos and atmosphere of this unique corner of Scotland with fresh 21st Century thinking. Our authority has been recognised as having a clear focus on building staff skills to improve learning and teaching, raise attainment and develop strong leadership at all levels.

Stranraer Academy, which was refurbished and expanded in 2010 is a comprehensive, non-denominational school, serves the area of South West Scotland and is one of fifteen secondary schools in Dumfries and Galloway. The current school roll is around 998 pupils and has a catchment area within the Stranraer and West Wigtownshire area. There are 12 associated primary schools, which consist of village primaries as well as the schools located within Stranraer. The school benefits from an active and well-established Parent Council who are supportive of the school and work collaboratively to ensure the school is an integral part of its community. The current senior management structure consists of a Headteacher, 4 Acting Headteachers and a School Support Manager. The school has generous playing fields and sports facilities.

We are looking for a well-motivated and organised person to join our efficient, supportive and friendly non-teaching team at Stranraer Academy. You will be required to work within the School Library where knowledge of office systems, an aptitude for PC work together with an ability to meet deadlines and work with minimum supervision are essential. You must be flexible with a pleasant manner, interpersonal skills and a full understanding of the need for absolute confidentiality. A willingness to learn and an ability to adapt to change will also be required.
