Working in a hybrid style, based at home and 5 City Square, you will work full time, 37 hours per week on a rota that includes regular out of hours working. Licensing Standards Officers are part of the Environmental Compliance Team within Neighbourhood Services. Requirements

You will be educated to HNC level in a relevant subject, or equivalent qualification.

Responsibilities

You will exercise duties on behalf of Dundee City Council as an authorised officer within Neighbourhood Services to enforce and implement the provisions of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982, the Gambling (Scotland) Act 2005, the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 and all other relevant legislation.

The Individual

You will have experience in legislative compliance, regulatory work, carrying out investigations and dealing with confrontational situations. You will also have experience in interpreting and analysing information and identifying appropriate solutions to problems, dealing with sensitive and confidential information and preparing and presenting materials. You will be able to deal with all sections of the community in both advisory and enforcement situations, and methodically and innovatively with problems to achieve positive outcomes. Good written, oral communication skills and computer skills are essential. You must successfully complete a paralegal qualification and comply with the training requirements under Section 16 of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 within 2 years of being appointed. You will have a full driving licence and be prepared to regularly work outwith normal office hours on a shift pattern, which includes evening, night and weekend working. The ability to walk up/down flights of stairs and to access/exit cellars and storage rooms by stairs or ladders is essential. A Basic Disclosure Scotland check is required.
