Full Job Description

Our Client are looking for an experienced lift supervisors, ideally also with a level 3 rigging qualification to lead their lift and rigging teams on site and cover various other areas required. The individual must hold all in date certifications / qualifications and have an extensive background in supervising the lift teams across mobile cranes, overhead travelling cranes, and fleeting operations.

 

 

Qualifications

CPCS Crane / Lift Supervisor - Blue Card 

 

 

Essential

CPCS Slinger Signaller - Blue Card - Essential

ECITB Level 3 Moving Loads + safety passport in date

CPCS Mobile Crane Operator

SSSTS CSCS Gold Card - (desirable)

Risk Assessment SVQ / NVQ level 3

IOSH / NEBOH certificate - (desirable)

Working @ Height

IPAF / MEWP

Confined Space

 

 

The job role of a crane / lift supervisor includes the following duties:

Working as part of a team to ensure lifting operations comply with the law and they secure the health and safety of employees and of all those affected by the operations

Providing training, supervision, and guidance to the lift and rigging team.

Monitoring all crane operations within their dedicated area and addressing any issues promptly.

Overseeing the movement of all lifting operations in their dedicated area.

Ensuring safety and effectiveness of the team and equipment

Briefing all lifting team members - also de-briefing with lessons learned reported to the Appointed Person

Being present during all complex lifting & fleeting operations

Ensuring that ground conditions are safe for any operations involving mobile cranes.

Taking suitable measures to rectify unsafe conditions

Ensuring only registered operators and appointed staff are involved in any lifting operation

In a full-time position, Crane Supervisors usually work between 35 and 40 hours per week

Working hours can be variable and overtime may be required in order to meet project deadlines

 

 

Skills

Additional skills which may benefit anyone considering a job as a crane supervisor include:

IT Literate - Word / Excel

Excellent knowledge of LOLER Regs 1998 and BS 7121.

Patience and ability to remain calm in stressful situations

Able to coach and mentor less experienced members of the team

Knowledge of engineering construction

Good attention to detail

Ability to remove, report and record, and defective equipment, accessories, machines and tools from the work scope

Ability to work well with others

Ability to direct, operate and control lifting equipment
